Giving Opportunities

Did you know that you can honor a loved one or establish a legacy on the CU campus that will last forever by making a gift in support of the Sustainable Excellence Initiative?

Think you can only make a difference if you can “write a big check?” Think again.

Our ambitious goal of $105 million is comprised of both capital and endowment fundraising priorities, offering unique giving and recognition opportunities for donors of all sizes.

Want to know how you can make an impact on CU student-athletes and receive something in return?

Capital Giving

In today’s intercollegiate landscape, we know that world class facilities attract distinguished faculty to teach and conduct research, skilled administration and staff to execute the university’s vision, and talented student-athletes who provide the most visible window into the campus community.

The rise in construction and renovation of facilities – academic and athletic – is a critical factor in competing in today’s marketplace. In order to recruit elite student-athletes, as well as properly train and prepare them to be successful, it is imperative that Colorado has both training and competition facilities that are among the best in the nation.

To remain competitive in all sports, we must continue to upgrade our facilities. We have already seen the positive impact of our new basketball and volleyball practice facility, as these programs are now consistently among the leaders in the Pac-12 Conference.

At an estimated cost of $150 million, the Sustainable Excellence Initiative is the most significant investment in facilities in the history of CU Athletics. In order to remain on time and on budget, we must achieve a goal of $85 million or greater in private philanthropy and strategic partnerships.

Your gift to the SEI goes directly to support this mission, and unique recognition opportunities are available within our new and renovated facilities for donors at all levels.

Endowment Giving

OUR GOAL - $20 MILLION in new funding commitments

The nation’s most competitive athletic programs, including many of our peers in the Pac-12 Conference, have endowments in excess of $50 million. At present, CU’s athletic endowment is valued at approximately $15 million.

A strong athletics endowment provides a dependable revenue source from which we can fund obligations for our over 200 student-athletes who receive almost $8 million annually in scholarships. Today, some of our competitors are funding all athletic scholarships entirely through donations and endowment support.

We currently fall well short of this benchmark. Now is the time to build the financial foundation for sustainable success.

A significant increase in our endowment – we are targeting $20 million in new funding commitments – will dramatically enhance our ability to offset rising scholarship costs and provide greater flexibility in meeting a wide range of budgetary needs, such as academic support, coach and staff salaries, operations, facilities maintenance, and recruiting.

Perhaps most importantly, you can establish a legacy of philanthropy that will last forever by creating an endowment or contributing to an existing endowment. Named endowment funds can be established in the sport or program area of your choice to honor a family or individual with a link to CU Athletics that will survive in perpetuity.
